Citizen SMP Chrono

So this might be a bit controversial. Picked it up on ebay for not a lot of cash recently, because I liked it!

It's a Citizen CA0540-56L, which I call the Citizen SMP, because of its resemblance to the Omega SMP chrono.

Lots of styling clues to the SMP- guilloche on the dial (kind of wicker effect rather than waves), colouring, bezel shape and style, bracelet and hands, subdial placement although there are differences. the 12, 3, 6 and 9 hour markers are different, font and style of the bezel aren't the same. It's also a couple of mm bigger. The subdials are also black, not blue, and the second and subdial hands are different colours. An homage, rather than a direct copy in my view.

Finish is good, although the bezel is fixed, which is a bit annoying.The bracelet is nice, although the clasp is pressed steel rather than forged. The dial is actually very nice, and the blue lume quite powerful.

Overall, very chuffed!

Tha looks pretty smart & a good buy as well by the sound of it.  

As Robti says I can find chrono dials too busy but the hour and minute hands are sufficiently prominent for that not to be an issue. The strong lume is another plus point for the watch.

If you like the Omega SMP chrono style but it's beyond budget that would be viable option as an alternative to consider. 

I like it, I looked at a similar case to make a homage to the amp myself.
