I was searching ebay last week when I came across this Citizen BN0191-55L Eco Drive Promaster , it was advertised as a non runner but I did notice in the few photos on Ebay that the second hand was in different position each time so to me that said at least the watch was not completely dead so I decided to keep my eye on it . I was not particularly concerned about it being a non runner as I imagined 2 possible outcomes , 1st a good charge on a sunny window sill could hopefully kick it into life or failing that replace the capacitor.
Watch arrived on Saturday and straight into the sun it went .... I was really happy to find that after a while the secondhand was ticking away nicely , I left it in the sun a little longer and then set the time and wore it , an hour or so later I noticed the time was wrong and the second hand was jumping by 2 seconds, this is an indicator that the watch requires a charge .
I decided to pop open the back just to check which capacitor it needed , I had read that a 295-51 ( MT621) was required but just wanted to double check , I was a little surprised to find a LR621 watch battery I am guessing the previous owner changed the MT621 capacitor for a LR621 battery .... idiot
Anyhow new capacitor ordered which arrived today I popped it into the watch and all is working as it should , I am really happy with my purchase , more happy as i was able to win this watch and capacitor for less than £60
Here are some of the specs
200m Water resistance , Mineral Glass , Case size 44mm , runs a Citizen E168 movement , 22mm lug width
