buyer beware is the mantra here IMO
i saw this and immediately knew i was looking at a fake
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seiko-style-S-S-Diver-watch-case-7s26-0030-/252774230839?hash=item3ada84ab37:g:M24AAOSw32lYphvX
the giveaway is the raised Tsunami............it sits far too high
its supposed to be a case For a 7s26-0030.
these were faked in large number in the Philippines along with the 0020 and 0040
complete ones use some genuine Seiko parts like the movement and to be fair the look very convincing, but
as pointed out the main give away is the raised disc with Tsunami
the other big issue is the crown and tube which are really substandard it wouldnt keep out a rain shower....
it pays to read descriptions thoroughly as this seller knows what he is selling and has covered himself
"Stainless Steel Dive watch case, ? Seiko or Seiko Style. "
note the word "Style"
its unusual to see a fake Seiko, but there are quite a lot of these around.
real case back
fake case back
on the fake the tsunami disc is too high and the tsunami is pronounced/course
there is not a crown tube seal on the crown, these fake ones have a flat rubber washer inside the crown
sadly mr average buyer looking for a nice vintage Seiko diver wouldn't know the difference
i suspect quite a few sell on ebay as genuine
