2016 GQ watch guide Empty 2016 GQ watch guide

Post by domecurb Mon Sep 26 2016, 12:18

been reading the 2016 GQ watch guide http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/gallery/best-watches-for-men-2016 and although there are some stunning timepieces being released by various makers none of them hit the mark with me apart from maybe this:

    2016 GQ watch guide 1020

although to be fair i would want it on a bracelet

for me watch design has arrived at a point where they all seem to be trying to out do each other instead of concentrating on the "corporate image " of the product and maker that they are known for and as such some have lost their soul, lovely looking ....yes, in your face and noticeable...yes, but thats not what a watch is for me..........

Do you think companies are trying to hard to appeal to the designer side of the market

They might be try to appeal to the designer side of the market though as someone who really doesn't get the attraction of a Panerai in the first place, I like this watch. It's not overly fussy and I love the plane bezel. I generally prefer watches on a bracelet but I'd keep this on a strap as it goes well with the dial

It reminds me of a Seiko but I can't recall the model number.... It usually has a green face and is all watch case and itty bitty dial, just like that.
Panerai were onto a good thing with their very distinctive case. This is just another watch.

To be fair, I'd rather exchange it for a Glycine @ below £1k and get a new conservatory with the difference. It's not the worst watch in the world though
