my Invicta 19799 Grand Diver 2 arrived this morning and i am very pleased with it.
i have had one of these before and did a mini review on TWF, but it was a grey one i bought:
although a smart looking watch the grey was a bad choice and i sold it to someone on TWF
this blue one arrived this morning
this is a better colour for me
now i know these are not everybody's taste as the are big, brash and even a bit tasteless but the value for money is extraordinary, these are 300m proper divers not to be confused with the bottom range of invicta watches which can be totalcrap lacking in quality they run NH35 TMI/Seiko 24 jewel movements which can be hand wound and hacked, the case is a demure [ ]52mm wide including the crown, the bezel measures 45mm and the watch is 17mm thick, i think its fair to say you need gorilla wrists to carry this off........fortunately i have wrists of gorilla dimensions
there are some superb, if hard to see, design aspects:
9-0clock marker from the side
3-oclock marker
from a quality point of view i cant fault the watch, the screw down crown is one of the best i have come across, the thread meshing is instant and the risk of cross threading is very low......
now i am a bit of a fiddler, things are rarely how i want them so there will be some changes starting with the paint removal form the engraved "INVICTA" and "GRAND DIVER" the engraving is hardly subtle without the paint................with.. is just too in your face, the second little "MOD" is to brush all the shiny parts of the bracelet......they are just finger print and scratch magnets
the watch came with all its papers and a yellow Pell Case
this is a nice and unexpected bonus, the box is very well made and seems to be bomb proof
the watch was sold as second hand but is immaculate and was a third of the price of a new one, take off the price of the pelli case and it didnt even cost the price of an NH35 movement BARGAIN !
