Re: Quartz or Mechanical
thats a hard one as there are quartz movements that are technically superior to spring driven, it would really depend on the make and the watch, i know lots prefer spring powered over quartz, but i dont differentiate between the 2, one thing to remember is that quartz analogue and spring driven analogue are essentially the same, one uses a spring as a power source and the other uses battery power, the main components are the same IE 1st,2nd and 3rd wheels in the drive train etc while there is no doubting that spring driven are often good to look at, there are a lot of quartz movt that can hold their own in the looks stakes
Ronda 5039D
ETA 251.474
SEiko 9F Grand Seiko
to my eyes they look just as good and perform so much better than any Spring driven movement
amazingly though most younger people. even in their 30's, have no clue about wound up watches, in fact i have bought many a watch on ebay mis described as needing a new battery when all they had to do was give the watch a quick wind or a shake
so really i cant answer the OP's question ...sorry

Re: Quartz or Mechanical
it has a good quality ETA jeweled movement that are cheap and easy to swap if needed, i had the hydroconquest quartz and its a very good watch, obviously the mechanical one will be dearer and probably hold its value better, but as i have said i personally couldn't choose between the 2
