Auto or quartz Empty Auto or quartz

Post by Robti Sun Sep 30 2018, 09:56

Hi it’s been a few months since my last purchase and I am getting an itch again, namely a Longines hydroconquest, I always liked them but seiko divers were easier to come by and cheaper too lol, up to now I have just bought what I liked auto or quartz, but on this one I would like some opinions on which route to go to help me decide, so which movement do you prefer and why ?
    Thanks

I started off buying just Auto's then went through a phase where I only bought Quartz but now find myself back on Auto's ..Weird I know but I do not actually have a definitive explanation why I changed it just kind of happened.

I will say though that the Longines Hydroconquest Quartz is a great watch I really liked mine but just did not wear it enough so sold it this week to IceBlue .

the way i look at it: a quartz or "mechanical" is the same, its just the power source thats difference.
Obviously a quartz is battery powered and "mechanical " spring powered, other than that the movements are very much the same and a good quartz movement is just as well made as a spring driven one. you get some seriously rubbish quartz movements but then the same can be said about spring driven too.

a Seiko 9F and as good as it gets with a 50 year service interval Shocked find an equivalent spring driven movement [ you wont Wink ]

but for much less money you can get something like this:
    Auto or quartz 5040D_M_back
    ronda 5040d

i guess sensibly we should all go for quartz these days as they are so reliable and accurate, but then a movement with a little heart beating away has a touch of magic about it.
i dont discriminate, i love both as much and tend to go for a quality movement regardless of power supply
