    Watch Rotation Empty Watch Rotation

Post by SeikoJohn Wed Mar 15 2017, 14:46

I have found that recently I have been wearing the same watch for quite a while and some of my others are feeling slightly neglected . As a remedy to this I have decided to wear everyone of my watches for one day only

Starting today with my Citizen C480-S46934

    Watch Rotation BD854FFD-E373-429D-A0F6-58FFC0ABF1F9_zpsy09grbku

I will add a little review each day with the pro and cons of each watch this will help me in the future should I decide to part with any .

    Pro's

Extremely light on the wrist and in my opinion rather different as it has both Analogue and Digital time on it

An excellent watch to wear for a formal occasion as I am sure a shirt sleeve will fit over it very easily ... Luckily though I do not wear shirts very often

    Con's

The digital time is a little bit difficult to read

It's a good idea to wear them in rotation John. You can lose sight of how much you enjoy wearing certain watches when other, more current favourites, hog all the wrist time. Very Happy

That said hopefully there won't be too many of them ending up on a "condemned" list. Shocked

    Pro's

Nice big easy to read dial measuring in at 41mm and 43mm with crown I do like the addition of colour to the blue stopwatch hand

    Con's

This is just a personal issue I am not a lover of Roman Numerals I dont know why but I just do not like them .

my main niggle is with the strap it is just not long enough I have managed to secure the strap on the second hole but that does not leave enough strap to fully go into the keeper ... yes this is a trivial issue that can be fixed with a new strap

i get your niggles, i think roman numerals should be on clocks and its amazing the amount of watches than come with short to medium length straps, all thats needed is an extra 15mm and they would fit most people IMO

I like the Roman numerals though they are quite big in proportion to the hands. I think it's quite smart though so could easily be a dress or casual watch which is great.

Its interesting what you say about the strap size. Knew a chap years back that only wore Seiko divers with rubber straps. Having rather thin wrists he hated seeing the end of the strap almost coming round to the top of the watch.

Solution, he chopped a section off with a pair of scissors. Shocked I have one of his watches and the flat rough end of the strap always reminds me of him. Very Happy

......and you are quite right John, that's a lovely watch. Watch Rotation 3377044411

They are called jump hour or can also be called digital watches. The concept wasn't new as there were jump hour wrist watches from roughly the 1920s onwards. The same design was also used in pocket watches and travel clocks.

Your one is quite nice with the small sub second hand instead of another revolving disc & window showing the seconds.

These watches can be temperamental, specially the older ones, so if this one is working well I think it's a nice watch to have in your collection. Will look forward to seeing your pros and cons for the watch later. Very Happy

    Pro's

I really like the appearance of this watch as it is very unusual . very light on the wrist in fact a couple of times I did check to make sure it was still there and not fallen off . I agree with Daff62 that the sub second hand is a great looking feature .
I think that the strap I put on it really suits the watch but would also look good on a leather dress strap

    Con's

Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick is all I can hear it is so loud Shocked
A rather annoying part is actually reading the time I guess it is not the watches fault but my own fault as this is proof that my eyes are deteriorating .
As you can see on this closer photo the dial has a slight discolouration is this a bad thing or does it add character to the watch.
I can not find out how to change the date the crown only seems to have the one pull out setting still not to worry as I can hardly read it anyway lol

That's great John & the watch has been saved from the "to go" list. cheers

With regards to the dial there has possibly been damp ingress at some point causing it to discolour & it could deteriorate further. It could be restored but you would have to be very keen on the watch to go to that trouble and expense. To my eye I could happily live with it as is.

It would be nice to replace the glass but given the shape I don't know whether that would be easy to do or not.

The date might have to be set by just advancing the time continuously. With some watches, when the date advances, you can then set the time back to nine o'clock then take it forward again & repeat the process till the correct date is reached.

The strap suits it well but a bracelet may give it a bit more substance on the wrist.

Hopefully it will get a bit more wrist time now and avoid any to go lists. Very Happy

i have to admit....i have 5 of them [ or 6 Smile ] and they are very well made, the movements are a Citizen design and bomb proof, i always assumed [ wrongly ] that they would have chrome plated cases, but they are stainless steel..........i suppose chrome over brass wouldn't do well in a hot sweaty climate. one things for sure there are certainly a lot of them about and most are now probably sporting re-painted dials and there is also a huge range of dial colours Very Happy

The Lume on the hour and minute hand is really good sadly though the markers on the dial are just painted and not lumed .

    Pro's

Extremely easy to read dial and keeps really good time for such a cheap watch I think I paid less than £5 for this and it came from India .

I would say IMO that this is a multi use watch as in it could be worn casual like today on a nato strap (I will come to the strap later) but also if changed to a leather then could be wore as a dress watch

    Con's

Not the watch but again strap problems I have not been able to get away with wearing a Nato style strap as they do not sem to sit right on my wrist they always go to one side

    Watch Rotation 01392341-5447-47E6-B19B-16F63B6F3FD3_zpsb9gjnlt5

So today I thought for a change and please do not throw stones at me but I decided to wear the watch on the inside of the wrist Shocked  now some may say that this would increase the chances of the crystal getting damaged but in my case being in a wheelchair it is actually reduced as when worn correctly I am forever scraping watch crystals against door frames

    Watch Rotation 63DA86A6-A7A8-4642-B343-92159CA77512_zpsggoujsgf

Lack of lume on the dial is a bit of a downfall but not really a big problem . Overall the Jawan is a keeper

I don't really wear natos and had to rely on a YouTube video as I recall to show me how to fit one. scratch I thought though that they could be adjusted to position them the way you would like.

the trouble is, as i am sure you have noticed is the strap goes under the watch and lifts it high off the wrist, this makes it top heavy and prone to slipping to one side unless you wear it quite tight, i cant stand them personaly and i also dont like the "rash" they leave on a caseback......but then... i am a grumpy git Very Happy

I was thinking it was the position of the fittings rather than the weight of the watch causing the strap to slip. I did come across this but don't know if it's much help. scratch

Yup, this one definitely merits a turn. Watch Rotation 3377044411

Bit of a dodgy confession though not wearing a watch for two days, what's the world coming to. Sad lol!

It would seem very strange not to be wearing a watch. I do sometimes think I shouldn't be looking at or buying any more but haven't, as yet, been able to put that into practice. Shocked

Back on with the rotation and as today is a gym day I thought I would introduce my gym watch an Adidas ADP1152F this is sold as a multi function fitness watch I can not remember buying it but it was many years ago . The watch has numerous features of which I do not know how to use half of them Chrono , My Log , Light , alarm oh and it tells the time Very Happy After reading the back of the caseback it states it is 100m water resistant.

The main reason I wear this to the gym is because the watch has a rubber strap which is ideal for when I am sweating plus I am not too bothered if this watch gets knocked or banged .

Looks good and very practical with the easy to read digital display. Like yourself I would struggle to be able to use all the functions. It's bad enough working out how to set the time etc again when the battery gets changed. Rolling Eyes
Sounds like this is another watch that is safe from the "to go" list. cheers

This one will not be going on the naughty list lol. not going to be doing Pro's and Con's for the adidas reason being I can not think of many ,, one rather unusual plus is the strap and keeper . The keeper has a hole in the middles of it and the strap has a raised piece on it which fits perfect into the keeper .. good idea I like Watch Rotation 3377044411

Haven't seen that strap design before, pretty clever. Watch Rotation 3377044411 Might have been tempting trying it on another watch but as it's an exact fit for the case it's unlikely to fit anything else. Shocked

On with a Rotary Quartz today The leather strap it came on was too small for me so changed it to a plain black nato

Very nice Watch Rotation 3377044411 I automatically think "Seiko" when I see watches like this so it is nice that it's a Rotary. Do you find the nato strap comfortable on that watch? One of these black rubber straps would suit it I think as would a bracelet or mesh bracelet. Very Happy

The nato on it is really comfy I wear it a little loose . I agree though a rubber would suit it I think I have a spare in a drawer I might try on it
