New found certainly having to eat my words!!

Hi everyone,

My name is Grant, I have recently only 'discovered the interest of watches. I am happy to admit I was one of who I am sure there are many that thought along the lines of 'why do I need a watch, my phone tells me the time, or why on earth would spend so much money on a tiny clock strapped to your wrist.

Well, it's safe to say after many hours of being shown videos and pictures and a little information behind what makes a watch as complex or as beautiful as it Is I have completely changed my mind. Recommended by a friend of mine, who I believe it quite a prestigious member on here he set me about finding my first watch. Prone to being quite heavy handed and having large wrists he suggest I start with a g-shock, as I understand it, the staple to most watch collections. A blue bezzel tide master. After a few months of owning that and becoming used to wearing a watch regularly I started chatting about watches with him again.......fueled on a recommendation from him again I found myself a Vostock n1 European edition 192/500. Rose gold plated with the original Russian 2432 movement.
Buying this watch seems to have awakened a lust and desire for watches I didn't know I had and I am so keen to learn more....see more and begin a collection.

hi Grant @Gdeluca, welcome to the forum and welcome to the slippery slope of watch collecting, as you have seen we are a small forum at the moment but hope to get bigger as time goes by, but even being small there is a huge range of watches on display here to temp you even further into the depths
please dont be afraid to ask questions........there are no silly questions here.

Hello Grant and welcome to the slippery slope of watches I only started about 3 years ago and currently I have just over 30 or was that 40 I am not quite sure

Sounds like you have been getting good advice already. Hopefully you will see other watches on the Forum that will give you ideas about adding to, evolving and enjoying your collection.

i am guessing thats one of the last Russian movement ones, they are all Seiko movements now, great strap

That's a nice incoming grant I'm looking forward to seeing it on the wrist and as Bruce (Domecurb) said that's a lovely strap something different from the norm , I'm looking forward to seeing you go through the motions of collecting and being skint lol , congrats on your purchase and as you are not the smallest of chaps (the man is like hulk) that should have a great presents on your wrist

if he is big, he's going to like some of my divers.....especially one i have coming at the weekend...........all will be revealed

now that is very nice......and quite impossible to guess

guess what i am getting then, its a diver, its huge, its swiss made.......Rolex is sort of involved but not as a maker
