I was trying to wrack my head as to what is unique to me about this forum. Does it have a specialism which we can promote more actively?
Well, there are other forums which are pretty general for watch enthusiasts, as is this one, albeit the other forums I'm thinking of have connections to people/businesses selling watches which makes this more neutral.
My first thoughts are that this site really does contain some great info on tool watches, specifically Seiko divers and how to mod them. To a lesser extent, there's some good content on electric watches. I bought my first Seiko divers watch whilst being a member here and it is a modded Monster, don't think I would have done that without having trawled through the posts on this site, kind of says alot in my opinion.  I also bought my first Bulova Accutron from a member on this site. Speaks volumes...

What else does this forum contain to make unique to you?

The Unique part of this forum that I like and will admit I have not used it for a while and will promise to use it more if the forum remains open is the Fence Post Studio section. We have the daily what are you wearing threads but FPS is unique to this forum and it is good that maybe I just want to post photos of a certain watch I do not have to create a seperate thread to post those photos in , as long as there is a Fence post in the photo then I can simply pop it on that thread.

Ditto, I could say the same. I've never looked at fence posts the same way! I also think this is the most well conducted site I've been on, the members are all respectful of each other, which really compliments the topics being written about. I like the fact this site accommodates the modest collector. Ie you don't need to own an expensive Swiss watch to feel welcomed.

the uniqueness i am trying to achieve is one where everyone is equal, there are not Trolls or Bullies and if any appear it is an instant ban.....no questions, there will be no taking the pi*s if someone doesnt know much about watches as we all started like that, just basic respect for all, its the least we are entitled to. also we are not like other forums where admin and mods hide and talk about members, this is very disrespectful IMO and wont happen here, some seem to lose sight of the fact that the members are the forum, not the screen, software, admin or mods who are supposed to act for the good of the members.
that my take on things Wink

The Fence Post Studio is a good idea though possibly it could be a bit more visible either on the home page or as a stand alone category.

I must confess I had to use the search option to find it as a "sticky" sub thread under the what are you wearing today thread.

As it is unique feature of this forum it could merit a higher profile for members or visitors to see / use.

I will have a look later this evening see if I can find a better section to move FPS to or possibly create a new section for it.

I haven't been active that much recently because I have been sitting in the back ground trying to figure out the best way to move the forum forward , a name change may help and some link via other forums and sites help,

Given the similarity in some of the USPs given by people in this thread, is it worth considering changing the banner which currently reads
"A friendly place for all things Horological and the one they like to copy" to something else, my suggestion would be

"A friendly place for all things Horological and home to the famous Fence Post Studio"

I suppose the banner is a bit like a mission statement for a business, it needs to succinctly state what the forum is all about.

the banner was a bit tongue in cheek because the owner of another watch forum when i first started this one was watching very closely, he was unaware that i can track his IP right to his front door Very Happy anyway some of the things i was doing here like flags for the countries etc mysteriously appeared on his forum at the same time so that is where "the one they like to copy" came from........just a not so subtle dig, i should have changed it ages ago as the snooping from him has now stopped, but some others are still sneaking a peak lol!
