    I'm confused .... Empty I'm confused ....

Post by SeikoJohn Fri May 05 2017, 19:09

I have being giving my collection quite a lot of thought recently and although I am really proud of my collection most of them just do not get worn as much as they should ....

I find myself wearing my latest purchase until the next one comes along and the others tend to stop in the box ...

Here is where the confusion kicks in do I sell up Shocked Shocked

IF I sell up do I sell all and what to do with the money gained from the sale

Do I try to downsize if so how do you decide what stays and what goes

If I do sell all or some would I regret it in the future and kick myself for doing it ?

Has any other member had this experience and how did you overcome it ?

John this is what happened to me

Stage 1 I get a few watches then some more then two many

Stage 2 I decide to sell some of the watches and concentrate on a certain style or make

Stage 3 something comes along and you decide to sell a few of the collection to justify the purchase of a new one

Stage 4 you get the new one and then a few months later your not happy as some of the ones you sold you want back

Stage 5 you replace the onces you sold and the collections complete again

Stage 6 you start at stage 1 again

And that my friend is watch collecting lol

It would seem a shame to part with any of your watches before knowing what direction you would like your collection to take.

Possibly try wearing some of them in rotation to see if the interest and enjoyment of them can be re-kindled. That may help choosing which ones you would sell without any subsequent regret.

Being able to get a good price for any you sell along with keeping in mind whether they could easily be replaced, if wanted, are other factors to keep in mind.

Do you have a list of watches that you would like to buy or a Grail watch? If you do that in itself would quantify parting with watches in the short term to have funds in place.

It's quite exciting looking out for something specific or for that matter something completely unexpected that catches your eye.

My only other thought is instead of trying to decide which watches to sell would be to start identifying which watches you would definitely keep. The remaining ones would then be potential sellers when the price & timing is right for you.

Not much help I'm afraid but things usually have a habit of working out & I hope they work out well. I'm confused .... 3377044411

Mate yesterday I was going to sell most of the collection , and today they are all keepers my only advise is if their is something special you want only sell the ones you never wear or you can replace to justify it

This is a very good idea .... instead of opening my box and choosing which one I want to wear I will simply wear the one that is next to the last one I wore

It is obvously just a phase I am going through and will pass I just do not want to jump in the deep end and sell something I would regret later on
