Lovely bright day in Edinburgh, which makes a change, so for a bit of colour it's this Avia Electronic Swissonic. Very Happy

Can I ask what is the difference between an Electronic and a Quartz watch ? Am I correct in assuming that both types take a battery ?

Yes, they are both battery powered. Unlike Quartz watches electronic watches have a balance wheel or tuning fork like the Accutron watches.

I'm no expert on these type of watches so this link better explains the technical variations. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_watch

I have a  Rotary Electronic watch which has an ESA 9150 movement

    Monday 6 March 2017. <a href=Monday 6 March 2017. Image_676" />

which dates from 1967 and was the first electronically controlled balance wheel movement.

Electric watches though date back to the 1950s with among others the Hamilton 500 series which had a magnetically driven balance wheel powered by a battery.

Hope this is of some interest & I've not muddled the facts.  Embarassed
