i bought a job lot off eBay the other day and they arrived this morning, the description said they all had faults, but as 2 were new i thought it was a safe bet.
as said 2 were new: a SKX007 with the bezel needing refitted and a 7s36-03C0 with a non running movement, the third is a well used 7s36-04N0....a bit scratched and needing an end link for the bracelet. these were bought for future projects after i get other repairs done, but i had a quick look at them, the bezel pressed back onto the 007 with no issues at all and the watch is in mint condition with a warranty card dated august 2016
the 03C0 wasnt running but i tried an old trick with this type of movement and gave six hard fast slaps on the case back and the movement fired up right away and is keeping perfect time, sometimes the balance spring will catch on the balance cock after a little bump, its not common, but not uncommon either and it has to happen as the balance spring is fully open and at its longest for a split second then a little bump will knock the spring over the cock, as in this case a few hard thumps will sort it, but if not its a caseback off job and the balance spring can be gently lifted off where its caught up.........worth remembering if your seiko suddenly starts gaining time [ most common] or stopped altogether.........give its bum a slap....it usualy works
the 04N0 as said is a bit scratched up but is working perfectly and really only needs a case polish and a crystal..however is a prime candidate for an FFF Mod in the new year, the bracelet has an endlink missing but i have a really good quality mesh that will look great on it
so there you go..still bargains to be had on eBay
