Re: Monday 17th October
Truth be told I wore the Mentor mostly today, but got home late to find this had arrived
It had been away for a new crystal, but.............. returned polish, day wheel fitted and wearing a snazzy new leather strap. Very happy indeed. Thank you Bruce
An excellent job.
Only one thing how do I move it on from Tuesday?

not sure then, you seem to think i fitted it ? i didnt touch the movement other than fit the second hand, wind it set the time and posted it
i can only suggest you take the back off and get the movement ID then do a search on changing the date, there may be an odd way of doing it as there is only one position on the crown, it could also be a replacement movement at some point

Re: Monday 17th October
Well that's strange, The wheel must have moved in transit.... there was what seemed to be just a blank plate there before.

Re: Monday 17th October
I also would have thought the day would move forward if you were advancing the time.
Sometimes though with vintage watches the day won't advance at the same time the date does.
You can move the date forward by advancing the time to midnight then set the time back to 9 o'clock for example then advance again to just after midnight to move the date forward again. This can be repeated until the date is correct or until the date is correct for the day if that makes sense.
With this watch try keeping advancing the time a few hours beyond midnight & see if the day changes at a later time. Hopefully this will work.

Re: Monday 17th October
No amount of trickery seems to move the day wheel, and interestingly enough either rotation of the crown in the second position moves the date forward.
This however is not a big issue... Tuesdays from now on will be ruby ones.

That's a pity it didn't work. When I saw pictures showing either a blank panel or "Tuesday" I thought it must be advancing at some point.
I have a distant memory of one of my watches doing the same & a watchmaker advising it was designed that way as not everyone liked the day display. If that was the case with your watch though when you advanced the time you would still see the day panel change albeit just to another blank panel.
I'm afraid I don't have the "mechanical" knowledge to be able to identify a possible fault. I did have a look online & came across this post re a Concerta day date watch. It might not be the same movement as in yours but if it is it may be of interest.

If the link doesn't work possibly it could be copied / pasted to be able to see the page. I'm sorry not to have been more help.
