Revue Thommen 17030.2137
arrived this morning after not expecting it until Monday so a nice surprise.
this is a good spec dive watch, but i think what attracted me the most was the sort of "old school" look, its sort of Omega and sort of Rolex with a touch of retro, although its still looks modern
Brand Name Revue Thommen
Model number 17030.2137
Part Number 17030.2137
Item Shape round
Dial Window Material Type Sapphire
Display Type analogue
Clasp Type fold over clasp
Case Material Stainless Steel
Case Diameter 45 millimetres
Case Thickness 12 millimetres
Band Material Stainless Steel
Band Width 24 millimetres
as you can see from the specifications its not a small watch, 45mm wide is hardly in retro territory even if it does include the crown, but its also only 12mm thick which is unusual for a modern diver which tend to be 15mm plus thick, add in the top to bottom measurement of 53mm and this adds up to a very comfortable flat sitting diver [ most tend to be very top heavy ]
the screw down crown is a joy to use as both the crown and tube have very long and heavy duty threads which makes engaging the threads simple
the crystal is sapphire as mentioned in the specs, but there is no AR coating which is a minor disappointment [ or have i been spoilt ? ] but being sapphire it has great optics from all angles.
the one thing that i dont like is the cyclops, usualy when i get a watch with one fitted i remove it within a day as i just do not like them however i am on the fence with this one as it does suit the style and helps with the retro look so it may stay, time will tell
the movement is the wonderfully smooth high beat ETA 2824-2 which hacks and hand winds smoothly, the second hand sweep is smooth although no smoother than a Miyota 9015 IMHHO
the 24mm bracelet is very comfortable and not too heavy, a nice touch is the almost square ended end links which means a rubber or leather strap can be fitted without the usual gaps associated with curved end links
this will by no means be a favorite of mine, but its certainly a really good all rounder and will get plenty of use, it will also fit into my collection nicely
much to my Wife's delight this will be the last incoming of the year as this now makes a total of 29 this month
