Watch accuracy apps

on Wed Sep 20 2017, 18:27
So my question is does anyone use watch accuracy apps to check how accurate their watches are over twenty four hours

And if so how accurate are the apps only asking as I timed a watch over 24 hrs using Apple app tool watch and the result was ..................

+8 sec over twenty four hours on a auto movement is that acceptable on a watch

i think 8 secs is more than acceptable, but then i am not too bothered about accuracy, as long as my watch i am wearing is within a couple of minutes over a couple of days i am happy.
i rarly check absolute accuracy......mainly because i am lazy, but quartz accuracy interests me from a technological point IE the Seiko 9F movement which is accurate to around 10 seconds a year..now this amazes me, ETA do the Preci drive which has similar accuracy but not the quality or Longevity of the 9F
i think the last watch i timed was my Pantor Seahorse with the Miyota 9015 movement and it came in at around 4 seconds a day which apparently is not unusual for a 9015

I'm going to time the watch I'm wearing. It's a quartz chrono sekonda. I've got a feeling some of my slightly older watches might do quite well if I timed them

i would have expected better to be honest scratch
could the 1 second be the reaction time from you starting and finishing the test.....if you think about it its only 0.5 seconds a side??

it doesnt make sense otherwise as that would make the watch gaining 365 seconds a year Shocked which for a branded quartz would be really bad, i think you would need specialist measuring equipment for a quartz over 24 hrs so maybe a test over 2 weeks would interesting

i am guessing its only as accurate as the user.
i seem to remember these promoters of this App getting some abuse for the idea when they first introduced it, there are too many variables in the test to be accurate, they may connected to an atomic clock [ are they ? ] but there will be a delay however small between that and your PC, Laptop or Phone etc then add the human element and it cant possibly be accurate which makes the App completetly pointless.
i use my PC clock to check and adjust my watches, its probably a method thats a few seconds out, but is as accurate as the App and is as good as i will ever need.
i have now recieved [ probably their first of many ] promotional email trying to sell an over priced watch winder and i suspect this is the purpose behind the App all along, just a method of gathering emails and potential sales..i have unsubsribed Wink
for us guys i think the most accurate timing method would be the talking clock, i quick phone call gets you access to the pips from the Atomic clock and you can see where you second hand is in relation to the pips..........sadly it now costs to phone the clock Crying or Very sad
