Watch collecting rules

on Fri Sep 29 2017, 15:35
So do you guys have any rules for collecting i.e. Make model type of dial or budget etc etc

I used to not bother just got what I liked but over the last year I lost my watch mojo and this is wear a few rules I decided to throw into the mix

Rule one
To justify a new incoming one of the collection has to go

Rule two
Max budget on new incoming s £250

Rule three
The watch that sells the funds must go towards the £250 budget

Rule four
Enjoy the collection again don't get caught up chasing the big gun brands again unless it's a corker lol

so the obris Morgan and seiko spork both ticked the rules for Me

So what are your rules

Yup I have a couple of rules now one is to stop buying on impulse and to actually think about what I am buying . Second is to stop buying watches that I think I can repair and bring back to life as it often goes wrong .

buying non runners is always a gamble...some you win , some you lose

At the moment it is lack of experience and impatience that is my enemy . I have 2 watches put to one side to fix again another day .

At the moment because I am new to this I tend to buy anything I like the look of, but usually, that by the time I have looked up info on any I like they are usually long gone, as for budget I am in the hundreds and not the thousands, also I buy to build up my collection and I hope that when I get a few that I would slow down and then go for my grail watches

Don't have any rules though possibly, going with my wife's viewpoint, there should be one, namely, don't buy any more watches. Rolling Eyes

I have cut back a fair bit though & not being out and about so much limits the temptations.

If I do see something I try & think first whether I have any thing similar & if I do just walk away. Shocked
