I backed this kickstarter project recently. I like the fact if you are lazy like me the mechanical watch hands and mechanism will go for 30 days without a charge. It's well backed and still quite a bit of time left, interested to hear your views.

i absolutely love technology, always have and the Zetime is one of the best smart watches i have seen ..if not the best Very Happy but........although the tech in the watch fascinates me i still don't get the whole smart watch thing, to me its an unnecessary gadget, maybe not a fair comparison, but i do compare them to Kinetic watches....yes clever tech, yes they work and look good, but IMO they are solving a problem that doesn't exist, i see the smart watch in the same light.........do we really need a gadget so we don't have to go to the "trouble" of looking at a smart phone? how busy do you have to be where you don't have the time to pull a phone out a pocket or lift it off a table? and if we are really that busy maybe its time to modify life ?? just a thought
i am sure they will sell, but give it a couple of years and they will be on ebay for peanuts after the next best thing has burst onto the scene................all IMHHO of course Wink

Bruce, I must admit I was looking forward to your response on this one! I'm not convinced by smart watches yet. There are generally too many things I don't like, such as poor battery life, appearance and functionality. I didn't want a watch that only lasted a day without a charge, I don't like the flat tyre some of them have on the circular screens, I wanted one which could take a standard strap rather than integrated strap, I didn't want anything too large as some of them resemble a brick on a wrist, I didn't want anything which looks like it was designed by a 6 year old (which rules out Apple), I'm not interested in setting a load of daily fitness targets though would like something which had a bit of water resistance. I was interested in something which might allow me to see incoming calls, read text messages and most importantly - read the time! This one ticks most of my boxes though the jury is out in my opinion, just thought I'd see what one is like. You do have a point about evaluating ones life if you're too busy to get a phone out of your pocket. I have a mobile though would love to ditch it if I had a watch which could take calls and send messages. In terms of time constraints, I'm in a job where I attend roughly 100+ meetings a year and get very little respite so being able to glance at a watch in a meeting rather than getting phone out could have its bonuses.

I enjoyed the video (thanks for posting) which cleverly covers the design concept, functionality and specs.

While I would no doubt enjoy wearing it, it would mainly just be as a watch as I wouldn't use or benefit from all the technology it offers. That said I use an ipad but don't use fingerprint security, face time , Siri etc so it's not a prerequisite for buying.

I really like the thought and design of this watch. My only thoughts would be how user friendly it was and its price compared to other Smart watches. Definitely though something I would like to try one day. Very Happy

Smart watches are definitely the way forward IMO and I like some of them including the Tag heur Connected . here comes the but .... just too much going on for my liking ...text ... phone... contacts... blah blah blah. I like the idea of having a heart monitor built into the watch case I think that technology can be useful and also like how the dials can be changed depending on what design you fancy that day but for me to biggest plus on this watch is the use of proper "old skool" hands . The hands for me make this watch stand out from others .

i think the money is held in escrow and if it falls through you get it back, normaly you pay through paypal i think, i dont think things go wrong often but there have been cases of funding reaching targets and payments taken and it all falls through.......it is rare though

When you make a pledge on kickstarter, you only part with money when it gets to the end of the fund raising campaign and if the target has been reached. I have only had experience from backing two campaigns, the Zetime campaign is still active however the other one I backed finished last year, the money was taken though production has been put back from March until August. I'm fine with that, it doesn't bother me in the slightest though if you're looking for instant gratification, it's not the place!

I am back from my hols now and had an email while I was away to say the Zetime watches are close to being produced and shipped out. I am fairly confident with this project as the Zetime is made by MyKronoz who are already eastablished in making Smartwatches. I can't wait to see if it's any good. I actually did so me exercise today, would have been interested to see how many miles I cycled if the watch does that sort of thing (think it does from memory).

I have liked the idea of a smart watch but have been frightened of them what if I no longer need my other watches?
I will be very interested in your opinion when you get it

I intend to keep multiple watches! Not sure how I intend to fit in wearing it with my other watches. Perhaps just a day watch

I've had a couple of email updates from Mykonos and they are just about to make an announcement on the delivery of the Zetime hybrid smart watch.  Surprisingly a for kickstarter project they are just about running on time.  They've sent someone which to be honest aren't highly interesting. There was a bloke in a polo shirt saying Ze time has come, which says it all really. I did find something slightly more interesting on YouTube
