I bought a broken Quartz Invicta 21562 with the intention of buying a new movement (Hattori pc21a) and bring this watch back to life . I am not a watch maker or fixer upper but I like to dabble here and there . Anyhow the watch arrived this morning and I got rather excited until I took a closer look ..

Firstly the Secondhand is missing and the minute hand is missing some lume

The dial has a couple of marks on it around the centre not clearly seen in this photo

One of the dial pins is bent

I think the the stem may have snapped inside the crown

sorry this one is a pretty bad photo

This last one I am not sure if part pf the movement holder (probably the wrong name for it ) is missing or it is meant to be like this

good news bad news Invicta 9EC3804A-A67E-4783-B9FB-C3679852ADCF_zpscsmrlylw

still all in all not too bad for what I paid , all I need is a new movement , new hands , see if I can release the stem from the crown straighten the dial pin and job done Shocked Shocked

At least the strap case and crystal are in good condition

I have bought a replacement movement for the Invicta and had a look at the sizes for hands needed and the movement states "Requires watch hands: hour 1.20, minute .70, and sweep second .17mm"

After a quick search I am unable to find a set that match these measurements the closest I can find are these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-Watch-Hands-Mixed-Sports-styles-1-20-0-70-0-20-Set-of-3-/221920218713var=&hash=item33ab79ce59%3Am%3AmkgmUVeUxEN17J1PTOYq_lA

The problem being that the second hand is 0.20mm and not 0.17mm .. will the 0.20mm fit or does it need to be 0.17mm
    cheers John

you can gently squeeze the hand tube to fit, but you have to be very carefull...go too far and there is no going back.............
i have hands the same that will fit including the second hand or if you want something different got them too Very Happy
    a small selection...got loads more

the marks on the dial are easily sorted with spray acrylic lacquer and the movement holder is about right
the dial foot will probably snap when to straighten it as they are very fragile, but i have after market dial feet if needed..
it may be the image but the crown looks damaged where the stem screws in, it looks as if it been squeezed to hold the stem, if so it will crumble if you try to make it round......if its just the photo then you will need Alum to remove the broken stem, stems are made of steel and will dissolve in Alum the crown being stainless will be unaffected HTH.

"i have hands the same that will fit including the second hand or if you want something different got them too "

cheers for the offer Bruce yes please I would really like to change the hands , not a great lover of the "mercedes" style hour hand . I will measure the length of the minute hand and get back to you , I quite like dagger style  Very Happy

"the dial foot will probably snap when to straighten it as they are very fragile"

I managed to bend the dial foot back straight again so happy with that".

"if its just the photo then you will need Alum to remove the broken stem, stems are made of steel and will dissolve in Alum the crown being stainless will be unaffected HTH."

I had a little research this afternoon and read up on Alum I will give the Alum a try first as I think the stem might be broken in the tubing that attaches to the crown ( does that make sense ) I need to get my loupe out to take a closer look

I think it might just be my bad photo , the top of the tube is not flat it is more of a 45 degree angle

aaahhh i see it now....Alum should do it, but you need to be patient ......i mix 400ml of hot water with Alum until saturation ...remember science at school ? Very Happy drop the crown in........one or twice a day give it a blast in the micro wave until hot and you will see a stream of bubbles coming off the crown....this is the stem dissolving ..........you can help after a couple of days by cleaning out the hole with a needle as the corroded stem builds up oxides .........4 or 5 days and the stem should be gone cheers

YEA I finally got round to sorting this Invicta out today cheers cheers

I needed to put a little order into Cousins yesterday so decided to order some new hands for it and yes I messed up slightly and ordered gold instead of silver scratch  anyhow I could not use the original Crown as there was not enough thread left to attach the new stem to ( I am thinking maybe there was but I just could not do it ) so I used an old crown I found in my watch box .

so here we have the finished Invicta ... ok it does not look brilliant with the gold hands but at least it is up and running and I originally bought this as a project watch to see if I could get it working again and I did Very Happy Very Happy

Well done giving the watch a new lease of life and getting it running again. good news bad news Invicta 3377044411

Silver hands may have been the first choice but I think the gold ones work quite well with the dial and hour markers as well. Very Happy

I have been informed by my wife to " leave it as it is " as she said it looks good the way it is so I guess the gold hands are staying
