Mr Levity I require your assistance ( or anyones assistance really ) I quite like the look of this Seiko Sportsman on Ebay and just wondered if you had any information to share on them .

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172495858510?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I believe the older Seikosha movements are the more desired watch although they are the mechanical ones and this is the automatic to me this movement looks ok the crystal looks like it may need replacing though as it has a crack in it .

    Any opinions welcome

Can't be much help I am afraid but it is a Seiko Sportsmatic rather than Sportsman as it has been described in the eBay listing.

There does seem to be some staining on the dial above the nine o'clock position though possibly it's a mark or shadow from the crystal. Either way the watch would benefit from a new crystal.

I think its a smart looking watch and like the simplistic style so good luck if you decide to have a bid. Very Happy

It looks to be in reasonable condition. The mark @9 is the paint flaking off the dial, so if you go for it, just be careful.

The seller has good feedback and other watches for sale, which is often a good thing. Though he has got a bit confused, as it is (as has been pointed out) a Sportsmatic, not Sportsman. He also says it has quick set day/date !

If there's not a sudden last minute flurry of bidding, it shouldn't be too expensive. Don't tell anyone, but this one, a Seikosha 2451 from Oct '64, (which I believe is the earlier version of the 660x ) only cost me £25, though it did need a service.

I would think £50 to £60 if it all goes sensibly.BUT.... I personally would steer away from this seller as looking at some of her (?) sold items, there seems to be an awful lot of bidders with very low feedback scores doing a lot of bidding but no winning !

Holy moly ! Take a look at the bidding. Worst case of shill bidding I've seen for ages. Expect to see it relisted soon.
