I don't know if anyone saw these on Kickstarter? I gave in to my male gadget side and funded one of these yesterday. It's a strap you can use with any watch, mechanical, Quartz, antique, smart watch etc and the strap connects via Bluetooth to your phone. The strap acts as a microphone and by using alien technology obtained from Area 51, if you put your finger to your ear, it somehow sends the callers voice through your finger. I couldn't resist it. Ok the bit about Area 51 was a lie thou I'd be interested in any opinions.

i think from the smart watch point of view its the only thing have seen so far that makes any sense, all the others are pointless over the top gadgets IMO..this one actually has a purpose and is useful too........would i buy one ? ........no, but thats because i have no use for it.....i love gadgets though and i hope you get yours.
as for Area 51...thats exactly where this tech came from.......their next crowd funding, should this one take off, is "nasal projector"  where you stick your index finger up your nose and your eyes turn into a 3D video projector...............now that I WILL BUY Neutral

Yeah, now you're talking, that sounds right up my street, or nose. Can't wait to see the look on the faces of some of the pretentious iwatch users I know when I put the strap on a really classy vintage watch and it does something more useful than their watch and neither do it look like it was made by George for Asda.

I've had a look at the David Wailing reviews and info and know where you're coming from. Whilst I'm far from a technophobe, I have a strong distrust for some of the tech giants so don't do social networking, I don't use chrome, Safari or IE for web browsers, I tend not tend to use google as a search engine (DuckDuckGo instead), I haven't got a google account, don't use google maps, don't have I-tunes etc, I stay clear of anything that uses voice commands or any biometric security - you probably get the picture. My thoughts are that this technology allows me to make a phone call, which is no different to my current technology habits other than it allows me to hear the call through my finger.

I'm hoping to get some suggestions from other members as to which watch to buy to go with my SGNL smart strap. I'm hitting a land mark birthday in just over a month, which coincides with hopefully the arrival of my smart strap (see the initial post for what it is). I wouldn't mind getting a watch that is new to me to go with it to help with my celebrations. I'd be interested in hearing any suggestions?

Got to say that was my first choice! I've got to say I've look d at so many Seiko mods recently I don't have a clue where to start. I had originally drooled over some of the black bay styled mods though I'm now torn between those and the FFFs, and about 15 others in between! I also like some of the Vostocks out there. I should start by working out what will go well with my tin hat.

Given the design of the strap I did think of a couple of ideas that I think I would like....

    The Mondaine Evo Giant

    SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch <a href=SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch Image_487" />

    and the Lip Mach 2000

    SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch <a href=SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch Image_488" />

I suppose it depends whether you would like a watch that works well with the strap or  a watch you like which the strap could be attached to, if that makes sense. Very Happy

at least david is thinking sensibly about this SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch 3377044411
although i think the first watch would be a little difficult to read
imagine if you were a coal miner or a night watchman wearing it lol!

SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch Image_487

but then i suppose neither would wear such a watch anyway so i need to shut up silent

I do like the mondaine though the black on black is a put off for. The Lip Mach isn't my thing. I think if I had to say what I was looking for, it would be mechanical and relatively simple though something which would work with the strap. Bruce, I've been looking at the Marine mod as a possibility, lovely watch and might work with a black strap though it would be a shame to change how it is already as it looks good as it is. Now I'm thinking about it, it could be a good excuse for me to pick up a couple of watches to see what works best...

I would struggle with the time on the black hands / dial on the Mondaine as well. It was more the look rather than the practicalities. The Mondaine range has a few permutations like this one......

    SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch <a href=SGNL - Not a smart watch, but a smart watch Image_489" />

The great thing about this strap though, unlike some technology, is that it would fit any watch of the correct lug size. You can therefore buy, oops, I mean try all kinds of watches rather than being committed to one. Very Happy
