Something a little different for me today.

This Nivada Antarctic

Saturday 10th December <a href=Saturday 10th December Image_461" />

Nivada introduced their "Antarctic" model in the 1950s in support of the US Navy "Operation Deep Freeze" which took place between November 1955 and April 1956 ( the Antarctic Summer). It was designed to be durable, waterproof and anti magnetic.

Saturday 10th December <a href=Saturday 10th December Image_462" />

This operation in the South Pole prepared a permanent research station in advance for the International Geophysics Year (  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Geophysical_Year) which was from 1 July 1957 to 31 December 1958.

My watch is a later Antarctic model from the 1960s & has an ETA 2472 movement. Very Happy
