Longines wrist watch

I thought I would post a few pictures / details about this 9ct Longines watch.

It had been a presentation watch from Wiggins Teape ( a speciality paper manufacturer that had been founded in London in 1761) in 1974 & is still in its original box....

Longines had created an Admiral model for the 1972 Munich Olympics which used this calibre. It has a high beat escapement at 28800 a/h along with a power reserve of 40 hours.

It also has an unusual hacking feature. Normally when a crown is pulled out the second hand will immediately stop & only restart when the crown is pushed back in.

With this movement, when the crown is pulled out, the second hand will continue its sweep & only stops when it reaches the 12 o'clock position. This helps with synchronising the time.

The watch is relatively small (at approximately 33mm) compared to modern watches but is perfect for my vintage watch tastes.

A smart looking watch & in good condition for its 42 years of age.

How strange I am currently in the midst of having a Longines 6942 restored (I Have given the game away)

Get it serviced you will not regret doing that, I can advise on who can do that at a very reasonable cost.
