New quartz missing the seconds markers

Post by Robti on Fri Mar 09 2018, 19:37

Hi I just received this watch today and noticed that as the second hand goes round it misses the markers and then hits them then misses them again in 1 cycle, so anyway to fix this or do I return or am I being anal about it

It may be the angle of the picture or my poor eyesight but the second hand doesn’t looked “centred” or sitting correctly on the pinion. If it isn’t I don’t know whether that would cause an issue with the alignment of the hands on the markers.

even the most expensive miss their markers unfortunately, the second hand can be removed and refitted to improve this, but its a bit hit and miss, what you describe though would mean even if you got right on the marker when refitting at some point on its journey it would be out again, this could be just down to variations in the movement components or the printing on the dial not being symmetrical or both regardless i would say yours cant be sorted and i doubt if the supplier/ maker will accept it as faulty, but you can return without a reason .....you are not forced to like it........however, if you got another it would probably be the same and as mentioned even the dearest watches have this issue, this doesnt bother me, but what does bother me with a quartz would be a chronograph center seconds hand missing the markers, that would be rare as they by design have to return to the 12 marker, luckily i have not found many that dont hit the mark
very nice watch though Robert, has a realy nice vintage look. a good choice IMO
