Little things that may put you off

I have been loking at the brand Parnis after I read about them elsewhere and I have come across a watch that ticks most of my boxes . Here is the watch



It comes with a good spec

I really like it especailly as the price is less than £100 delivered but then I took a closer look and little parts of the design are begining to niggle me for example



I know it is just the caseback and noone sees it but I dont like it I would rather have a plain ungraved one and preferably one that is flush with the case



The name Parnis ebgraved on the clasp just makes it look a little cheap and tacky to me but I know this could be brushed out

Finally the crown looks a little small to me or maybe I am just being too picky

is this enough to put me off buying one ..... well I am not sure yet , would these little niggles put you off buying it or are there other niggles that you can see that I have missed

i understand where you are coming from, when i look at a watch i may buy... the design and style has to click instantly or i dont buy [ i know i am weird ] but i would say to you to look again at the watch, the crown is bigger than it looks as the guards seem to be hiding it a bit and the case back i think would look 100% better with the clear sticker off, the name on the clasp wouldn't bother me, but i would say if it bothers you and you want to remove it you will struggle its deeper than it looks so maybe you could just change it for an unbranded clasp [ it can be done ]
i must say its a fine looking watch which seems to have design components from a lot of top makes, in general to me it looks like a Citizen, but the lugs look like they are from a Seiko Sumo, the hands are Omega Ploprof etc etc, it all works though IMO

I don't have any watches that have a crown guard so to my eyes it looks a little out of place / awkward. 

That aside I really like the design of the dial as well as the two colours of the hour and minute hand. That is similar to what you were thinking of as a mod next year.

I don't know what the quality of the steel strap would be as I know there are various types on the go. The brand name on the buckle wouldn't worry me though. I presume the strap could be changed anyway if wanted to another bracelet, leather or rubber.

The only thing that confuses me is the dial says 200m water resist while the specs say 20ATM. Does that mean the same thing?

A quick search and I found this
20 BAR, 20 ATM, 200m, 660ft.
Suitable for all high impact water sports and scuba diving at depths not requiring helium gas. At these depths it is recommended to purchase a professional watch

It is very similar to the Invicta mod I want to do which is why I really like this model , it will save me doing the mod and works out cheaper . Have to wait unti mid December to see how many pennies I receive from my family for my Birthday and I can see me placing an order in for one .

I have read up a little on Parnis and sometimes it works out a little more expensive to buy from certain shops but there QC is much beter. The way it was described is along the lines of different chefs following the same recipe but their foos turns out tasting different , these Parnis are produced in different factories and some have better QC that others.

It sounds like the Parnis would be the best option unless you would really enjoy doing a mod. 

I see prices on eBay seem to vary a fair bit so don't know if it would be best to buy from Parnis directly or other online outlets. From what I have seen of them I do like some of their designs.

The Parnis ebay ran out today but as it is not my Birthday until next month I left it alone . The seller has relisted the watch for £105 which is £18 more than it was yesterday Shocked
I may wait until January see if there is a sale somewhere

I finally got round to reading the Thread thanks for posting it .. a little alarming to think that the watch could be sent out with a dry movement and no lubrication ? Is it a risk I take because I like the watch and it is not a lot of money or do I use my sensible side of my brain and buy something else ? hmmmm

I would buy it as the QC on Parnis is 500% better than it used to be, also shop around as the prices vary a lot
